Messi Steal Distance When Making A Free Kick Goal To The Liverpool Goalkeeper

Lionel Messi has just proven his quality as the best player in the world today. He helped Barcelona beat Liverpool with a landslide score of 3-0 in the first leg of the 2018/19 Champions League semi-final, Messi scoring two goals in between.

Messi's two goals are very important. He scored the second goal Barca when Liverpool was busy attacking. Then, Messi ended with the third goal through an incredible free kick.

This third goal continues to be discussed. Messi executed a beautiful free kick despite being far enough away from goal from Alisson Becker. Messi's execution was even praised directly by the opposing coach, Jurgen Klopp.

So, unfortunately, Messi's free kick turned out to be a little cheating.

Stealing Distance
Messi's free kick was extraordinary, no one dared to argue. However, it turns out he stole a considerable distance when placing the ball. Messi intentionally advancing the ball closer to the opponent's penalty box.

Quoting Marca, in the replay of the match, Messi seemed to advance the ball at least three meters from the actual violation position. Free kick was given after Fabinho violated Messi.

Factor of Messi
However, despite the free-kick controversy, Messi's miracle cannot be doubted. He was present when Barca needed it most. Messi is able to carry the team in times of difficulty.

In the match, actually Barca chose a pragmatic approach to overcome the threat of Liverpool. The Reds looked very good and could have scored a few goals, but Barca had Messi who was the difference.

If there is no Messi in that match, Liverpool may be able to leave the Camp Nou with a positive result. That proves how important Messi is for Barcelona.

Referee Bjorn Kuipers does not seem to pay attention to Messi's actions. La Pulga did not waste the opportunity and successfully steered the ball into the top corner of the goal to wrap up his 600th goal for Barcelona.
